Recreational Program

West Fargo Soccer Club’s recreational soccer program is focused on developing fundamental soccer skills and fostering a love for soccer. It is important to us that our young soccer players have the opportunity to develop skills in a positive and fulfilling environment and our program is all about having fun through playing soccer.

Fall recreational soccer is for boys and girls in grades 1 through 5 (during the 2017-18 school year).
Season Dates:

  • September 5 through 28
  • Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:15 to 7:00

Registration Fee:

  • $30
  •  We will waive/refund the fee if you volunteer to coach your child’s team.

Teams will be formed after the registration deadline. You will be notified of team assignments by September 1.

Registration deadline is August 29. However, our goal is to get as many children on the field, enjoying soccer, as possible, so we will try to accommodate late registrations. If you do register after August 29, we cannot guarantee that your child will receive a uniform or they will be placed on a requested team.

No team pictures will be taken for the fall season.

If you are ordering a uniform, please be advised that the sizes run small. We recommend that you order a uniform that is one or two sizes larger than normal.

If you have any special requests (such as being on the same team as another player), please note such requests during the registration process. We will try to accommodate any such requests but cannot guarantee that all requests will be granted.

Please review the information below for general recreational soccer guidelines below.

What does my child need to play recreational soccer?
Jersey. All players must have a jersey, which cost $15, but you can use a blue/white reversible jersey from prior sessions if you have one already.
Equipment. Players must have a ball (size 3 for children under 8, and size 4 for children 8-12), and shin guards. Cleats are recommended but not required.
Location. All events take place at the Scheels Soccer Complex, 1010 13th Ave W., West Fargo.
Cancellation Policy: cancellations will be made by 3 pm on the day of your scheduled training session or game. We will communicate this via email and website update.
Parent Coaches: Parent coaches are mandatory for each team! We would like to get two parent coaches for each team. This helps keep our registration fees lower. We will refund your child’s registration fee if you coach you child’s team throughout the session. Please indicate when you register if you would like to coach your son or daughter's team.
Past soccer experience is not needed. We will have one head trainer that will give large group instruction, at a central field location.  The team coaches will take teams back to their assigned field to work with them one-on-one. When the team is signaled they will meet back in the middle to receive the next set of instructions.  This is a great opportunity to spend time with your children, learn about soccer, make a positive impact on kids, and most of all to have some fun!

Meet our rec director

Ericka Freed Urness

I started coaching when I was 17 years old. I had my own recreational soccer team with the FM Soccer Recreational Program. This truly sparked my passion for coaching. Twenty years later I am still coaching and find myself as excited as I was when I first started. When I lived in Colorado I was a part of the coaching staff with the Fort Collins Soccer Club-Go Arsenal! I had an amazing opportunity to work with skilled coaches and build my own coaching philosophy.

I have been a part of the West Fargo Soccer Club since 1998; I played on the very first team the club every registered for a tournament. As the first female Director of Coaches in the state I was, and continue to be, proud to say that I am a part of the WFSC.

I am a teacher in the West Fargo School District. My husband Chad and I live in Horace and have three girls: Addie, Lola and McCrae.

Coaching Licenses held:
